Teradek’s Bolt Manager is a major asset on set. You don’t need a computer, it configures your wireless video system in lightning speed, and oh yeah, it’s firmware is getting a tune-up! I like the Bolt Manager because it’s great for allowing you to rapidly pair multiple receivers, configuring regional settings during prep on set, changing wireless channels, and updating firmware. Speaking of which…
UPDATE YOUR FIRMWARE
To update your firmware for the Bolt Manager, you will need to navigate to their website. There, you will have to download the Bolt Manager software. If you’re looking for the Bolt Manager Software, you can find it in Downloads. After you select the appropriate download for your computer, you’ll just need to follow the prompt. Remember to make sure to open up your application.
Once you complete this, you’ll have to update your transmitter. You can simply do this by powering it on and connecting your mini-USB to your Bolt and the other end into your computer. Once your computer recognizes it, you’ll just need to click the upgrade tab. You can upgrade online, or if your on set without internet connection, you’ll have to download the firmware beforehand. There, you’ll just have to load from your PC. After you go through the prompts, you’re ready for your next step.
Now, you’ll need to power on your receiver and again connect your mini-USB to your RX, leaving the other end in your computer. From there you will follow the prompts and then directly download the correct firmware from the Teradek website. From there, you’ll again need to follow the prompts, and there you go! You’ve got a freshly updated firmware on your Bolt Manager!
If today’s not your day, and you’re still having a tough time, don’t worry. Here’s a helpful video to take you step by step through the process.
The Bolt Manager Firmware Upgrade:
Hopefully you were able to upgrade in a cinch! I love the quick configuration tool for all these Bolt models. It’s a cakewalk to upgrade firmware and pairing receivers with just a few clicks. You’re able to manage wireless channels across a multi-receiver set, and as I previously mentioned, no computer necessary. And, another thing, you can connect up to four receivers at once. So, happy upgrading!
