Imagine being awarded over $70,000 in cash, gear, and more to make your dream film. This is your opportunity to take that great idea that’s in your head, the one you have always wanted to create, and turn it into something tangible. This is your chance to let your work as a filmmaker speak for itself.
“All too often, I hear great filmmakers talking about a film they’ve dreamed of for years… It’s a bummer to think of of all of these stories going untold.”
– Daniel McCarthy, founder and CEO of Musicbed
Shane and I have known Daniel McCarthy and the team at Musicbed for over 5 years, and we absolutely love their passion for bringing artists together through the use of film and music. They understand that the two share an incredibly strong symbiotic relationship, and truly thrive together. A great film is enhanced by powerful music. The emotions that you feel when watching a great movie are intensified by the score. That is why Musicbed is creating an exciting opportunity for filmmakers to share their stories with the world: the Musicbed Film Initiative.
Musicbed’s mission is to help filmmakers around the world tell better stories and to inspire both established and emerging filmmakers to take risks and create daring work. So what’s burning in the back of your mind right now? What’s the idea you go to sleep thinking about? The Initiative will give away more than $70,000 in cash, production gear, and post-production services from their program sponsors to break down the barriers filmmakers typically face while bringing their passion project, their dream film, to life.

Last year’s Musicbed Film Initiative offered $50,000 in grants and drew 7,463 submissions. We wrote about the winning filmmaker, Patrick Biesemans, last year in our article Blending Sciencing Fiction and Reality, and how he used the grant to create Embers & Dust – a poetic examination of the infamous night of the Orson Welles’ 1938 “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast.
This year, it could be you.
Applications are only open until March 24th, so head on over to filminitiative.musicbed.com.
Good luck and have fun creating beautiful stories!
