How cool is it that Radiolab’s very own Jad Abumrad will be speaking? We think, very cool.
Jad Abumrad is the host and creator of Radiolab (radiolab.org), a public radio program broadcast on 524 stations across the nation and downloaded more than 9 million times a month as a podcast. Most days, Radiolab is the 2nd most popular podcast, just behind This American Life.
Abumrad employs his dual backgrounds as composer and journalist to create what’s been called “a new aesthetic” in broadcast journalism. He orchestrates dialogue, music, interviews and sound effects into compelling documentaries that draw listeners into investigations of otherwise intimidating topics, such as the nature of numbers, the evolution of altruism, or the legal foundation for the war on terror. In 2010, Radiolab was awarded the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and 2011 Abumrad was honored as a MacArthur Fellow (also known as the Genius Grant).

Film is an art that brings together so many artistic tools, and music is one important facet in filmmaking, but it is also an art all its own. Explore and enjoy the live concerts that are sure to be one of the best highlights of this conference! Here just a couple of the performers of the awesome line up at the Film + Music Conference:
Talk about eclectic! Sharon Irving, a Chicago native, brings together the sounds of gospel, pop, and jazz as a dynamic vocalist, songwriter, and spoken word artist. She is sure to entertain and inspire!
The Rival just might sound a little familiar… that’s because their first two singles got some national media attention through major TV placements including the launch video for Apple’s iPhone 5. Some words to describe their sound include: new wave, guitar pop, kinda sound like a mix of The Killers, Tears for Fears and MGMT. We dig it, and we think you will too!
