In our first ever SIC Podcast Member Series, I sit down to chat with Shane’s Inner Circle Member, and talented DP, William Collinson, SASC.
In part one of our two-part interview, William discusses the differences between filmmaking in South Africa versus America, his creative process when lighting, and the “aha” moment that jump-started his career.
Though demand for his keen eye is on the rise, to the point that he’s turning down work, William stresses that learning is a lifelong process. Shane’s Inner Circle membership is one of the ways he pushes himself as a filmmaker and visual artist.
William is a member of the South African Society of Cinematographers (SASC) and in 2017 he won their highest honor – the Visible Spectrum Award for Best Cinematography in a Feature Film for his work on the movie Last Broken Darkness.
(Looking for Love, 2018.)
